The claim of modern medicine is that it is responsible for increases in life expectancy, decreases  in infant mortality rates, and the reductions of life-threatening diseases like TB, diphtheria, and  dysentery over the past 150.

 Illich disputes this claim. Describe what HE thinks is the cause of  these health improvements.
