To what extent does the school culture facilitate low-teacher retention?

School culture is a critical determinant of teacher retention. Teachers will thrive more in

culture-positive school culture, which prioritizes the needs of the key stakeholders in a learning

environment, including teachers and learners

. What is the implication of low teacher retention in a school?

A school where teachers continually leave for various reasons is more likely to register poor

student outcomes (Claxton & Michael, 2021). Teachers are the steering wheel in a school, they

take care of students’ overall well-being, and when they are minimal, there is so much work that

few remaining teachers cannot fulfill.
