Consider rereading Chapter 2 of the textbook, specifically, the Guidelines for Writing a Purpose Statement section. This section will guide you through the steps of formulating a strong purpose statement as well as aligned research questions.
Based on the topic you chose for the Week 1 assignment, include the following in your paper:
State your topic.
Write a one sentence quantitative purpose statement that embodies the single purpose of your potential study. It should begin like this: The purpose of this quantitative study is to [verb: determine, examine, investigate, etc.) + [state the purpose of your study or project].
Your purpose statement should focus on your specific topic, which could be an issue, situation, or problem.
Write one or two quantitative research questions that align with your purpose statement.
Write corresponding hypotheses and null hypotheses to your research questions.
Include the variables associated with your hypotheses.
