A‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍assignments Description: The purpose of this assignment is not to conduct a fully rigorous experiment that could be published, but instead to practice actually using the concepts, tools, frameworks, and theories included in this course in a real-world setting. Students should select a theory or concept discussed in the course, and then apply it in their daily lives.

This could be with a group they are working with in another Summer course, at work, with friends or family. This submission should be mostly practical – i.e., actually performing the experiment.

The submission should consist of

a) a brief description of the methods, and the theoretical basis for these methods justifying how the methods were created, including critical analysis of the theory supporting the methods,

b) a detailed summary of the results found (with supporting evidence – i.e. prove that you have actually done the experiment – this should include a log as a minimum), and

c) a discussion of the results (so what does the experiment tell us – does it support the theory or go against it?

How can you use the findings in‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍ your future management practice?) Word Count: 2000 +/- 10% (not including evidence of experiment – please include this as an appendix) Assignment Structure: The experiment write up can be structured as follows: (word counts are guides to the importance of each section, rather than strict limits) Introduction (100 words) Sets the scene for the assignment Methods (500-700 words) Briefly summarizes the methods, as well as justifying the experiment (describing and critiquing the theoretical background for the experiment) Results (550-850 words)

Describes in detail the results of the experiment. This section must provide extensive evidence of the process of conducting the experiment, and the findings.

Discussion (450-750 words) Discusses the significance of the findings in relation to existing literature, what you would do differently if you did the experiment again, how these findings can be used in management practice; critical appraisal of results Conclusion (100 words) Summarizes the key findings of the paper This paper is related to a DIY experiment‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍t
