Hello. I’m talking to you about the marketing assessment which requires you to solve marketing problems with a case study and that and how best to approach it. Approach this assessment. I’m recording this video for tutors and students to help people understand how to make the most out of this assessment, which were designed by the University of Suffolk. First of all, I would encourage you to consider your choice of case study. What’s important is you choose an organisation who you feel could be doing things better in marketing. You are if you like the marketing manager or the marketing director of this company, and what you need to do is ensure that whether you’ve chosen an organisation that you work for or when you’d like to work for or when you’re interested in, there is something that you can quickly see you feel they could be doing in a more professional, productive and effective way within the marketing of the company. WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO ASK YOU TO DO IN THIS ASSESSMENT IS USE REAL WORLD MARKETING AND ALSO USE MARKETING THEORY. WE ARE WANTING YOU TO APPLY MARKETING THEORY IN PRACTISE, AND THIS IS A CHALLENGE BECAUSE IT MEANS YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE YOU START WRITING SOME READING RESEARCH AND THINKING DEEP THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU SEE TO BE THE ISSUES HERE. WE’RE ASKING YOU TO USE MARKETING FRAMEWORKS, TOOLS AND CONCEPTS SUCH A SWARTZ PASTEL MARKETING MIX BUT ACTUALLY APPLY THEM. This is then showing us both your knowledge of marketing, but also how you apply this in real life business situations, as I say or a mess that you are adopting the position of somebody who is helping to solve problems for this organisation. What we want you to do is not give us a descriptive piece of text in which you are telling us exactly what they are doing. We want you to get involved in thinking about what is happening and what could be the solution to some of the problems. So what you need to do with anything that you are writing for this piece of work is MAKE SURE THAT IT APPLIES SPECIFICALLY TO THIS ORGANISATION. SO, FOR EXAMPLE, THE SITUATION ANALYSIS OR THE MARKETING PLAN CANNOT BE PLANS AND ANALYSIS WHICH COULD APPLY TO OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN THAT SECTOR. TRY TO MAKE SURE THAT WITH YOUR READING AND RESEARCH. YOU ARE REALLY THINKING ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR ORGANISATION YOU HAVE CHOSEN. WHAT ARE THEIR PROBLEMS? WHAT ARE THEIR STRENGTH? WEAKNESSES? WHERE ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THIS ORGANISATION? Lastly, I just want to say that in everything you do with this assessment, it’s important to ask yourself the question. Could the organisation you use these plans? If I was the marketing manager or marketing director of this organisation that I’ve chosen to study, could I take these ideas and put them into practise? That’s what we’re looking for, some original thinking about what the solutions to the marketing challenges and problems that this organisation are facing.

Topic: Select a case study organization which will be used for Task2 and Task 3. In your submission please provide the name of the selected organization’ case, reasons for selection, and a brief summary of operations.

Topic: For the selected approved case study organization you are required to create a situational analysis to include stakeholder and customer analysis of the selected organization.

Critical Discussion (300 words)
Utilise academic research using literature from journals, books as well as undertake a critical evaluation making effective use of evidence and scholarly sources towards the topic under investigation.

Application of theory (400 words)
An evaluation, using the selected organization to support the discussion and demonstrate practical application of theoretical concepts.

Conclusion (200words)
Effective summary of key points.

Task 3: 2500 word Essay

Topic: For the selected approved case study organization you are required to create a strategic marketing plan to include extended marketing mix, implementation and measurement.

Important Note: Critical Discussion is an essential aspect for this assessment point
Conduct a critical evaluation and discussion, which shows awareness of current problems, and contemporary issues and debates that draws on new insights or perspectives for your case study. To conduct a critical discussion your work needs to demonstrate your ability to synthesise current research and advanced scholarship in an original, creative and innovative manner.
Utilising academic research using literature from journals, books will help you to undertake this critical evaluation and discussion and it is by making effective use of evidence and scholarly sources as well as drawing on your own insights and ideas, which will help you to develop a critical approach in your work.
Therefore, please avoid descriptive essays, as these do not meet the requirements of this assessment point. Try to elaborate on theory, and provide your own argument.
