3.) Edwidge Danticat E. Danticat wrote the story, Book of the Dead, which is part of a book called, The Dew Breaker. As we look at the title of this text, who are the dead? What book are they in? How do the dual aspects of forgetting and remembering surface throughout the text? Why is their textual occurrence so important when considering violence and power in Latin America and the Caribbean?

4.) Clarice Lispector We have read two stories by Lispector. We know that she is really not writing about the smallest woman or a hen. She is using these figures as symbols for a much greater vision. Although her texts appear to be aligned with womens issues, what do you think these stories inner meanings or messages might actually be? How does symbolism make these thoughts and ideas more easily accessible to the reader?
