EXAMPLE OF A CHILD WHO MAY NEED SCAFFOLDING AND HOW TO PROVIDE IT.
Mary is a two-and-a-half-year-old who has been trying to learn how to put on her own shoes. The tongue of the shoe often gets in her way and then she cant get her foot in.
To help scaffold for her, I asked her if I can help her with a trick. I hold the tongue back as she easily slips her foot in. I tell her what I am doing as I do it. I ask her if she wants to try it. She takes her foot out and together we hold the tongue back so she can put her foot in. The next day she holds the tongue by herself and easily gets her shoe on.
