course will introduce several concepts related to teaming and strategizing in public health and health care-related organizations. The Applied Concept Memo (ACM) allows you to critically reflect on events, practices, or trends that you observe in the field with what you are learning in class. To complete an ACM, you are required to (a) identify an organization or stakeholder in public health or health care, (b) identify a managerial or organizational event, practice, or trend that is occurring in this organization/stakeholder, and (c) critically link course contents to your observations. You can identify the event, practice, or trend through an Internet search for articles in the news, trade magazines or professional association newsletters (e.g., Modern Healthcare, STAT, Healthcare Dive, National Academy of Medicine, AcademyHealth), annual reports from organizations, case studies/reports, or blogposts/features on organizations websites. The organization or stakeholder must be identified through formally written or published material that is accessible by others (i.e., you are not allowed to narrate the event, practice, or trend based on your individual work experience, but you are allowed to choose an organization where you work at as long as there is formally written or published material that you can quote from). The main objective of this assignment is to develop a more critical understanding of industrial practices that reflect some of the concepts that we are learning in class. You should use readings and/or other published sources to substantiate your reflections. You may use other concepts that are relevant but not covered in this course as well. The secondary objective is to continuously expand your industrial knowledge of important trends and practices as a public health professional so that you can remain competitive on the job market.
